The Tea Party movement came about as a result of many Americans being unhappy with the way the government is being run. Glenn Beck rallies have attracted thousands of people who demand the return of their country and freedom from the Washington bureaucracy that is ignoring the Constitution and spending our country and our future into bankruptcy. With another national election in less than two short years, we need to spread the Tea Party message and recruit more patriots into the movement to help take the fight to Washington.
Two saying from the history of these United States embody the Tea Party principals: "Live free or Die" and "Don't Tread on Me." It was upon this spirit of freedom that our founding fathers built this great nation and that our current government is dismantling. Politicians are serving their own interests and taking power they were never intended to have instead of serving the people they were elected to serve. We must join together in the Tea Party movement by starting new Tea Party chapters everywhere there are three or more people who care about their freedom and the reckless abandonment of the principals upon which this great nation was founded.
Among the demands of the Tea Party are term limits of no more than 12 years for Congress members. This means a limit of two six-year terms for Senators and no more than three four-year terms for Congressmen. We also demand that these representatives be banned from lobbying or working for a company that does business with the Federal government. We can't allow our elected officials to continue to get rich by serving their own interests over the interests of the people. Our founding fathers never intended for Congress to provide a lifetime career.
The Tea Party demands that all bills to be voted on are Constitutional and that they are fully read by the Congressmen and Senators before they may vote on them, signing a sworn statement to that effect in order to be allowed a vote.
Further, we demand that all bills must be published and available to the public for review for 14 days before a vote is taken. Bills passed must include regulations for enforcement and not be left up to bureaucrats to determine.
The patriots of the Tea Party demand that the budget be balanced and the crushing federal debt be paid off. This means cutting government spending by limiting or eliminating entitlements and unnecessary government agencies. Salaries and benefits of federal employees and elected officials must be brought into line with the public sector.
As American citizens it is our right and our obligation to take back our country to ensure that our freedom and the freedom of our children and grandchildren is preserved.
